If you love to go shopping, you should stay at Pratunam. This is the centre of Bangkok’s major shopping centres. Coming here, visitors will find all the fashion items such as clothing, shoes, jewellery, and cosmetics.

At first, you may be surprised by the feeling of being lost in the labyrinth with hundreds of shops. Although it is a bit messy, Pratunam is still a shopping paradise for tourists because of the cheap price. This is also a famous place for wholesale goods.

Besides fashion stores, there are a lot of restaurants and street food vendors in Pratunam. Grilled fish and Tom Yum at the corner of Phetchaburi street are the most famous dishes here.

In addition, Pratunam is also famous for  Baiyoke Sky – the place where tourists can enjoy the buffet and see the panoramic view of Bangkok from above. Near this highest building in Thailand are belts stores, suitcase stores and sportswear stores.

Train station: Ratchaprarop station or Phayathai station. To get this area from Suvarnabhumi international airport, take the Airport Link to Phayathai.

Famous places: Pratunam wholesale market and shopping centres such as Platinum, Shibuya 19, Central World, MBK, BigC và Palladium, Pantip Plaza electronic centre, Indra Square shopping centre of Indians.

Note: Stores in Pratunam often close at 9 pm, so this place is not ideal for those who like night activities.

Famous shopping centres in Siam: Siam Centre, Siam Paragon and Siam Discovery – the pride of Bangkok – the largest shopping centre in Thailand which attracts thousands of visitors every day.  Luxurious and famous brands in the world are concentrated here such as Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Chloé, Bottega Veneta, Jimmy Choo, Bulgari, Hermès, Escada, Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo và Versace. Siam is near Pratunam, but this place is a collection of high-end shopping centres. Therefore, the cost of the accommodation here is higher than one in Pratunam.

Siam Paragon is home to the biggest aquarium in Southeast Asia – Siam Ocean World which gives tourists the opportunity to explore the mysterious ocean.

The accommodation cost here is one of the most expensive ones in Bangkok.

Sukhumvit – the most bustling street in Bangkok – attracts visitors thanks to Nana Plaza – the entertainment complex for adults. Nana Plaza is a 3-storey building with a dozen of bars. Come here if you want to see how Bangkok in the night is.

This street is near the new shopping centre – Terminal 21 with about 600 stores and restaurants. Each floor in Terminal 21 is decorated with the features of England, Japan and America.

Train station: Nana Plaza ( Soi 4), Terminal 21 shopping centre (Asok station).

Note: Sukhumvit is not suitable for family with kids because this place is so noisy with bars and music. This place operates until the morning.

Silom is also a bustling area in Bangkok but it is more famous for Patpong – the “red light” street with over 100 bars and massage.

Formerly, Silom was a must-come and the most famous destination for all tourists travelling to Bangkok. Recently, this place has been warned because of the security, tricks and robberies. Tourists choose Nana Plaza instead of Patpong.

Train station: Sala Daeng

Famous places: Silom Complex, Silom Central and Robinson, Patpong.

This area is not suitable if you travel with family and kids.

Khao San Road

Khao San is the western street in Bangkok. Pratunam is the paradise for shopping lovers meanwhile Khao San is the ideal area for backpackers.

The Khao San Road is less than a kilometre long, but it is full of activities throughout the night. It is also home to many famous Thai street food. Shopping in Khaosan is also cheaper than the above areas.

Train station: Khao San is quite far from Bangkok centre, so there is no train station. You can take the boat on Chao Phraya river, get off at Phra Arthit (near Wat Pho and the Grand Palace) then take the taxi to Khao San.

Famous places: Khao San Road, the Grand Palace and China Town.
